You have a team and you want it to become agile. Where to start? You will start by developing a teamwork agreement, an empathy card and introduce the basic concepts of Scrum to your team as you work in this module. [MUSIC] Welcome back, in this lesson, you will learn what the teamwork agreement is and create one for your team. Agile teams are diverse teams, different teams include different cultures, genders, etc. Because of this diversity, agile teams tend to experience more conflict. A teamwork agreement resolves differences and creates a common understanding within teams before conflicts arise. A teamwork agreement is a living document, it is a contract between team members to create a common understanding of how they will work and how they will dissolve. The teamwork agreement consists of five categories. A tool, which includes technology and communication, the section describes how the team will work together.

Second, operational standards and practices, in this section you will cover the rituals and ceremonies to which the team is engaged, including cadence, time, who is responsible for agendas, and minutes. Third, to resolve disagreements, this section answers a question about what the team will do in the event of a conflict. When will they make a problem worse, how will they make the problem worse, and who will have the final say in resolving the conflict? Fourth, feeling safe, security is really important for the team to build trust, transparency and collaboration. Your team needs to feel comfortable when it comes to talking about all topics. In this section, your team should identify communication channels and rules of engagement to discuss these topics. By including your safety section, you demonstrate an explicit commitment to safety. Fifth, which encourages participation, this section creates a process to ensure that every voice is heard. Some people feel comfortable expressing themselves, while others prefer to be calm. By defining a clear path for participation, you can consider the diversity of personalities and work styles.

A prototype to conclude your team agreement should be specific and continue to review the document while the team continues to work together. Insert the revision in the retrospective. A retrospective is a meeting at the end of the work sprint where the team reflects on its performance, identifies opportunities for improvement and commits to action. Now let`s talk about how a teamwork agreement can be implemented in practice. Bring the team together. Give enough time. Browse each section and create security. Start with less controversial topics, such as the tools section. You may find that the simpler sections themselves become very controversial and you need to work on their process with the new team.

As a leader, you can design a team agreement yourself for the current state of the team and see if you need to modify the template based on the current gaps you see. By bringing the team together, you`ll be able to better facilitate the conversation based on what you`ve discovered by filling out the template yourself.
