About Beth Ann Erickson
Yeah. The most uncomfortable page a writer can
create. The dang bio. But it seems to be an essential web
page so here goes.
I've been writing as long as I could hold a
pencil in my hand.
I've created stories for as long as I can
remember.
I recall gunning into church each Sunday, not
to learn anything in particular, but because I enjoyed the
uninterrupted solitude of the sermon. You see, my body may have
sat in the First Covenant Church sanctuary, but my mind floated
far from the premise; enjoying the company of the myriad of
characters chatting in my incredible imagination.
I figure if I were a kid today, I'd probably
be on Ritalin.
But that's fine. To each his own.
I abhor being told what to do. But I have a
hunch this is a trait held by most creative types... including
you. :)
If someone tells me to zig, I'm more than
likely gonna zag. If you tell me I have to write something a
certain way, I'll sure as heck make sure I find a better way to
do it.
That being said, I'm passionate about the
folks who read my books and jump down anyone's throat who
doesn't run Filbert Publishing in the highest manner
possible.
But I digress.
I've owned a computer since 1982. It was so
cool. Plugged into the TV. If you're a geek (like me) you'll no
doubt remember the Tandy Color Computer II.
We reluctantly upgraded to an 8088 with a new
fangled device called a “hard drive.” I distinctly remember
telling my husband that I didn't think those “high priced
floppies” wouldn't catch on.
Joke's on me.
Round about 1989, I had a kid. That's when I
decided I should probably take life a little more seriously. In
'91 I returned to college and graduated Summa Cum Laude in
1995.
That's when I started writing
professionally.
I've done so ever since.
I've made pretty much every mistake possible
during my long and illustrious career. I've offended
(inadvertently, of course) other writers. I've made fast
life-long friends. I've committed more typos and grammos than I
care to think about.
I've embarked on partnerships, many of which
are still going strong.
I love my family. I'm passionate about my
puppies. Don't dis my pet rats. Hand me a plane ticket to
somewhere I've never been and my bags are packed. :)
But most importantly, I've had
fun.
And that's what I hope to bring to
you.
Life's such an incredible adventure. Any
success you can hope to achieve begins in the space directly
between your ears.
Yeah. It's almost too simplistic to mention,
but as the very wise Mike Dooley (from tut.com) always says,
“Thoughts become things.”
And I agree wholeheartedly.
And if I can have a small hand in expanding
your world, brightening your path, and helping you “wake up”
and experience life on a new and exciting level... well, then
I've done my job.
I'm excited. I hope you'll join me on this
grand adventure we call life.
I promise you won't be bored.
Best always,
Beth
